Kinetic

Long Course(Half), Olympic & Sprint Triathlons

Relay & Aquabike

May 10-11, 2025

Lake Anna State Park - Spotsylvania, VA

The Kinetic Triathlon Festival features the Mid-Atlantic’s first Long Course race of the season along with an Olympic on Saturday and a Sprint on Sunday. Staged out of beautiful Lake Anna State Park, this race features a sandy beach start, a crisp (mid 60’s) freshwater swim, rolling country roads for the bike and a run course that stays completely within the State Park.  The race is amazing for so many reasons, but the best part is the park itself.  Banked stadium style seating overlooks the swim start/finish, run course and finish line.  Bring the family as the park features miles of trails, a playground, swimming beach and visitors center featuring a “gold mine”.  Outside the park you can relax post race at the Lake Anna Winery or the Coyote Hole Cider Works.  Be sure to race with friends and make some new ones at the Kinetic Triathlon Festival!

Kinetic Long Course (Half)

Saturday  May 10, 2025 at 7am
Triathlon: 1.2 Mile Swim (Lake); 57 Mile Bike (Rolling); 13.1 Mile Run (Rolling)
Aquabike: 1.2 Mile Swim (Lake); 57 Mile Bike (Rolling)
Course Details & Course Maps

A one loop swim, two loop bike course and 3 loop run make for an extremely exciting and spectator friendly day! The water temperature should be in the mid 60’s, guaranteeing a wetsuit legal swim.

Swim Course: This 1.2 Mile Swim features a sandy beach start and rectangular shaped course with 2 turns and sighting buoys located every 75 meters. Lake Anna is a beautiful lake and we expect water temperatures to be in the mid 60’s. A temperature reading will be taken and posted the Thursday prior to the event. The swim is spectator friendly as the beach is wide open and the surrounding hillside affords elevated viewing of the entire swim course. Once athletes finish the swim they’ll have a short run to TA and another quick run to the mount line. You can find a complete water temperature history in our FAQ’s.

Bike Course: The Long Course bike is a 2 loop, 57 mile, rolling course on great pavement with 2000′ of climbing over the route. This course has an energizing mix of terrain and terrific views as you ride alongside rural farm country and pine plantations. This is a beautiful course and a lot of fun to ride. While this is not an easy bike course, it has long, buttery smooth sections of pavement that are perfect for your aero position. There are 3 aid stations (2 locations, one passed 2x, the other 1x) on the course serving water and Gatorade sport top bottles. As always, technical and sag support will be available during the event. Click here to view the route and elevation (2000 ft). Please note there is a 5 hour cumulative cut-off for the swim and bike portion of this event.

Run Course: The Long Course run features 3 loops along the wooded roads of Lake Anna State Park for a total of 13.1 miles and 800′ of elevation gain.  There is an enthusiastic cheering section on the hill coming out of transition area, starting the 2nd, and 3rd loops.  Aid stations are located every mile on the course serving water, Gatorade, ice and other goodies to keep you going.  There is some park traffic on the first mile, but you’ll see more wildlife than cars as you run down the various cabin and campground loops in the park.  With banked seating and a party going on, your friends and family can cheer you on as you start additional loops of the run course then eventually welcome you home as you finish the race next to the beach. Click here to view the route and elevation (787.1 ft).

Do the Double: Would you like to race both days of the Kinetic Triathlon Festival weekend?  If so when you register for the 1st race you will be prompted to register for the second race saving you 20% off the highest price race!

Course Details & Course Maps

A one loop swim, a one loop bike course and 2 loop run make for an extremely exciting and spectator friendly day! The water temperature should be in the mid 60’s, guaranteeing a wetsuit legal swim.

Swim Course: The 1.5K swim begins on the beach at Lake Anna State Park. The rectangular shaped course will have 2 right turns and sighting buoys will be located approximately every 75 meters. We expect the water at this time of year and at this section of the lake to be in the low 70’s. A temperature reading will be taken and posted the Thursday prior to the event. The water temperature at this location has averaged in the low 70’s which is pretty nice for October! You can find a complete water temperature history in our FAQ’s.

Bike Course: The Olympic bike course is a lollypop course that is 24.6 miles long. With a left turn out of the park athletes have great pavement and traverse much of the first part of the Kinetic Half bike course. The pavement is great and the terrain is varied as you ride along rural country roads. Click here to view the route and elevation (939.0 ft).

Run Course: The Olympic run course is the same as the Sprint course, it’s just 2 loops. There is a large hill at the beginning coming out of T2 but it levels off for the middle section of the course. There is a large down hill towards the finish line where athletes will start their second lap of the run. On your second pass athletes will veer 15 degrees into the finishing chute. The course is heavily shaded, well supported and entirely run on asphalt. Click here to view the route and elevation (324.1 ft).

Why race the Kinetic Multisport Festival?

“Fantastic racing experience, beautiful course, everything was well marked and easy to follow. The atmosphere was great and I really love being part of such an amazing and supportive community.“

“This was my first 70.3 triathlon. I was not adequately prepared for the open water swim. I learned the hard way that hours of swimming in the pool is not the same as a mile swim in a rough lake. Fortunately, I was able to make it through the swim without dropping out (or drowning) but it took me over an hour to get through it. The cheerful enthusiasm of the race workers helped me keep from being discouraged for the bike and run legs, ultimately enabling me to finish.“

“It was my first tri ever so I didn’t know what to expect. Was a bit nervous about not knowing where to go (registration, transitions, biking on the road, etc). To my surprise, everything was so well organized and efficient that I never got “lost” and I had a great experience! Thank you Kinetic Multisports!“

Thank you for making this event your first triathlon! There are many more people like yourself who will be racing this type of event for the first time.  Please note that we no longer have a Novice category/division. We now start all of our races with a time trial start (One at a time) so you can start the race where you feel most comfortable.  We do however have what we call a nervous swimmer swim cap.  If you are nervous about the swim make sure to ask for the nervous swimmers cap at packet pick up.

USA Triathlon requires each triathlete to either have a current membership or purchase a 1-day license. The 1-day license must be purchased when you register. The cost of a 1-day license is $15, an annul membership is $50 for adults and $10 for kids under 18.
