The US Performance Center Draft Legal Triathlon Festival is a day of collegiate and elite development draft legal triathlon racing featuring both a National Triathlon Development Race (NTDR) but also the Women’s Collegiate Triathlon East National Qualifier. Proudly presented by the Charlotte, NC based US Performance Center and staged out of beautiful Lake Norman State Park, this draft legal triathlon features clear water, rolling courses and great racing. The swim start features a sandy beach start and a crisp, clear lake. The bike and run courses are rolling and stay completely inside the park. Each lap of the bike and run courses bring athletes through the race site, so get ready to watch some great racing!
If you are spectating and bringing the family this is a great time of the year to be in the Carolinas. Lake Norman is home to numerous lodging options and attractions including great trail running and mountain biking in the park. You can learn more about the area HERE. Be sure to book your rooms early as hotels tend to fill up in advance.

Race Information

- Race/Event specific Course Maps, Rules Briefs and Athlete Guides can all be found there in the drop downs for each race above.
- All athletes receive a great race, a super comfy race shirt and socks, finisher’s medal, post race food/drink, high-fives and sore muscles!
- All Kinetic Multisports races are USA Triathlon sanctioned events.
- All Kinetic Multisports race registrations are non-refundable. There are however options for race registration insurance and a one time deferral. Visit our FAQ’s for more details.
- All registered athletes will receive an email on the Wednesday or Thursday before the race with all the last minute details to make your race weekend go smoothly!
- Please do not exceed the speed limit inside the park in your vehicle (25 mph)! The speed limit is STRICTLY enforced!
Event Site Rules
Road Closures: Please note that the main road to the race site will be CLOSED during the Draft Legal races, NO EXCEPTIONS. We need all DL athletes, coaches, spectators, etc inside the park 2 hours prior to their race start.

Athlete Bike Warm Ups
Athletes are discouraged from warming up on the bike/run course while other races are in progress. Plan your warm-up accordingly.

- Sprint: Draft Legal – 80 athletes/per race.

- NTDR – Top 3 M/F with Elite cards going to the top 3 non-elites in each division
- Women’s Collegiate Triathlon East Regional Qualifier – Top 3 Individuals & Teams per Division (DI, DII, DIII)
Road Closures In Effect: To ensure the safety of our Draft Legal athletes, the main road to packet pick up at the race site will be closed during the draft legal races. Road closures will be in effect on State Park Road both inbound and outbound between St. Johns Road and the race site at the Beach/Picnic area.
