Midway between Baltimore and Philadelphia, this race is staged out of beautiful Perryville Community Park in Perryville, Maryland which is truly a hidden gem, a diamond in the rough. Nestled on forested bluffs overlooking the top of the Chesapeake Bay this park makes for the epicenter of a great race. The swim takes place in the Chesapeake Bay and features an in water start off the dock. The Sprint bike course is a rolling out and back course while the Olympic bike course is technical with a mix of suburbia, rolling farm country and a fast, flat drag strip along River Road. The run course is mostly flat and winds its way along the Chesapeake Bay on sidewalks and back roads. This event is not to be missed and Cecil County is a great area to explore. ****All athletes must stay in the park until the bike route is clear of incoming bikes.  If you must leave prior to the bike course being clear you MUST park outside the park at the fire department lot, approximately 1.35 mile from the race site.  If you park inside the park, all cars will be “locked in” until the police deem the roads safe to allow cars to exit.  Our goal is a safe race for ALL athletes and we appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Swim Course: The 1.5K swim begins with single file start off the park dock (jumping only, no diving) into the Chesapeake Bay.  Athletes will swim the perimeter of a rectangular shaped course for a two (2) loop swim course and exit the water at the same location as they entered. The course will have 4 yellow turn buoys and orange sighting buoys will be located approximately every 75 meters. Being a July event, we expect the water to be in the low to mid 80’s. A temperature reading will be taken and posted the Thursday prior to the event.  The water temperature in 2022 was 85F, you can find a complete water temperature history HERE.

Bike Course: The Olympic bike course is challenging and not for beginners. Yes, we just threw down that challenge! Once athletes leave the park they’ll wind their way through the town of Perryville and rapidly get to Cecil County farm country where they will be treated to miles of rolling terrain through cropland and forests. At mile 12 athletes will take a sharp turn onto River Road. This 5 mile section is a freshly paved, slightly downhill drag strip with the Susquehanna River on your right as your fly back towards town. This transitions to another short section through farm country after which you’ll quickly find yourself back at T2. This is a beautiful course and a lot of fun to ride, but the technicality of this bike course dictates that the Olympic distance race should not be your first rodeo. Run Course: The Olympic run course is a two (2) loop out and back style course that winds through Perryville Community Park and the adjacent Perry Point VA Medical Center grounds. There is little shade on this course, but you’ll have sweeping views of the confluence of the Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River as you run along water. It’s a beautiful run course and not to be missed. There will be aid stations serving ice water and Gatorade located every mile and mobile support if you need it. Swim Course: The 750 meter swim begins with single file start off the park dock (jumping only, no diving) into the Chesapeake Bay.  Athletes will swim the perimeter of a rectangular shaped course and exit the water at the same location they entered. Bike Course: The Sprint bike course is a rolling, out and back course on low traffic country roads.  Once athletes leave the park they’ll turn right on Rt. 7 (Philadelphia Rd) and head to the turnaround point then cruise back to T2. The Sprint bike course is rolling and takes you through some beautiful Cecil County farm. This is a beautiful course and much kinder to the novice athlete than the Olympic distance bike course. Run Course: The Sprint run course features a 5k out and back style route that winds through Perryville Community Park and the adjacent Perry Point VA Medical Center grounds. There is little shade on this course, but you’ll have sweeping views of the confluence of the Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River as you run along the water. Race Information

  • All athletes receive a great race, a super comfy race shirt and socks, finisher’s medal, post race food/drink, high-fives and sore muscles!
  • Race categories available for this race are Overall, Masters Overall, (the overall winners must come from the age group category)
    Age Group, Aquabike (swim-bike-done!), Military (Active Duty|Retirees|Veterans|First Responders|Law Enforcement|Fire|EMS), Clydesdale (Males 220lbs & over) Athena (Females 165lbs & over)  and Relay Teams.  All categories are scored 3 deep.
  • All Kinetic Multisports races are USA Triathlon sanctioned events. You’ll be included in their National Ranking as well as support the US Olympic Team. Click HERE for a brief description of common USAT racing rules and how you can avoid getting a penalty in this event.
  • All Kinetic Multisports race registrations are non-refundable. Race registration insurance is available during the registration process.
  • Race Deferrals are available, learn more in our FAQ’s.
  • All registered athletes will receive an email on the Wednesday or Thursday before the race with all the information pertaining to their entry to include any last minute details to make your race weekend go smoothly!
  • Please do not exceed the speed limit inside the park (15 mph)! The speed limit is STRICTLY enforced!

Please Note: All participants must collect his/ her own event packet. Photo ID is required in order to collect event materials. NO ID = NO EVENT.  HINT if you take a photo of your ID with your phone, that will be sufficient for photo ID purposes.

Pre-Race Meeting: An extensive pre-race meeting will take place at 6PM on Friday. If this is your first race, come to this meeting to have your questions answered. A second brief meeting will occur 20 minutes prior to race start.

Thank you for making this event your first triathlon! There are many more people like yourself who will be racing this type of event for the first time.  Please note that we no longer have a Novice category/division. We now start all of our races with a time trial start (One at a time) so you can start the race where you feel most comfortable.  We do however have what we call a nervous swimmer swim cap.  If you are nervous about the swim make sure to ask for the nervous swimmers cap at packet pick up.

USA Triathlon requires each triathlete to either have a current membership or purchase a 1-day license. The 1-day license must be purchased when you register. The cost of a 1-day license is $15, an annul membership is $50 for adults and $10 for kids under 18.
